Canine Influenza Information

By now you have heard about canine influenza and the importance of making sure your beloved pet is provided the maximum protection available. Country Lane Pet Resort is taking proactive steps to reduce the chances of a canine flu outbreak.

Background

Dog flu or canine influenza virus arrived likely in Chicago in 2015 and began to sicken dogs. This dog flu strain arrived from southeast Asia, but no one knows exactly how. Recently, the bug began to appear in Michigan and there have been recent outbreaks in Columbus, OH. In addition, there are now isolated cases in the Cincinnati area. With the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays nearing, it is important we take all necessary precautions to minimize the chance of any issues.

Country Lane Pet Resort is proud to say we have had no issues to date and we would like to keep it that way.  We are confident that our policy to not co-mingle guests has greatly reduced the opportunity for the virus to spread.

IMPORTANT – Do This Before You Bring Your Pet to Country Lane

On  November  7th, 2017 Country Lane Pet Resort began requiring all canine guests have either completed their vaccination series for Canine Influenza H3N8 and H3N2 or are in the process of completing the vaccination series. Do this ASAP. For full protection, this vaccination requires two treatments over a 2-4 week period This will be in addition to three standard core vaccinations required in the pet boarding industry (Rabies, DA2P & Bordetella).

You can either have your veterinarian’s office contact us directly with vaccination verification for canine influenza or bring a copy of your records at the time of check-in.
